6 New Kitchen Trends of 2021

Trilogy Contracting’s Kitchen Renovation Top 6 List

These new kitchen trends, which range from cool colours to clever cabinetry, are all on-trend – but still doable.

There are plenty of on-trend looks and state-of-the-art appliances to choose from, with cool new kitchen labels popping up and plenty of creative design concepts and clever twists on old appliance designs on display in kitchen showrooms around the world.

We look at the biggest new looks for kitchens in 2021 –

1. Chamelon Kitchens

Living in a small space allows for even more kitchen creativity. With chameleon-like abilities, this chic open-plan room hides the cooking area, allowing the emphasis to be on entertaining.

You can maximize the sense of space by combining cooking, eating, and relaxing into one glorious, light-filled space…

The layout is adaptable, so it easily moves from a kitchen to a dining room to a living room. The cooking area is disguised as much as possible, with door panels that resemble decorative wall finishes. Accompanied with doors are concealed and equipped with fingerprint sensors that enable them to open and close smoothly.

2. Wood Finishes

Wood, which had been out of favor for a while, is now making a comeback. To bring out the warm tones in manmade stone, use fine-grained ash, which is paler than oak or walnut.

3. Dark Themes

Black walls, cabinetry, and work surfaces, which are often ignored as merely an ‘accent’ colour, are having a moment. Textured woods add rustic, homey charm to black, making it more liveable, luxe, and welcoming.

4. Double Islands

The kitchen island has become a must-have feature in open-plan kitchens as the trend toward larger kitchens continues. The final work of luxury is a pair of island units, an expansive addition for when space is not an issue.

5. Hidden Appliances

These revolutionary appliances will become more common as we become more involved in the ergonomics of our kitchens – and as more of us suffer from back problems.

Appliances that are hidden have a variety of features that make life simpler. When put at bench height, you won’t have to lean over as much, and you won’t have to get down on your knees to fill the salt, rinse help, or detergent – it’ll open like a regular drawer.

6. Mid-Century Takes

Bright whites contrast with rich woods and soft curves to offer contemporary kitchens a modern mid-century feel.

With smart bespoke detailing, dark walnut cabinetry helps to keep the look simple. Tall white cabinets with light marble splashbacks and countertops draw the eye up, giving the impression of more room and keeping the look current.
